GI Reset Program Registration

This is where you register for the “GI Reset” program, consisting of Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis and a deeper dive into exploring your gut health via the testing with the GI-Map. It is also possible do to some further exploring from here if warranted.

If your needs fall somewhere in between the Perfect Balance Wellness Project and a full Functional Nutrition Consulting arrangement, then I will have referred you to this page. Once we have your broader gut balance addressed, the Perfect Balance Wellness Project may be a great next step.

What is the GI Reset?

Modern lifestyles can be hard on your gut.

The foundation of this program is exploring mineral balance through the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis test in combination with a broad exploration of gut microbial balance, presence or absence of various pathogens, and several measures of the health of gut tissue and immune health. We’re currently using the Diagnostic Solutions Lab test “GI Map,” a state of the art DNA-based functional test.

In addition, as coaching time permits, we can address eating style suggestions and lifestyle factors such as sleep hygiene, mindset, environmental stressors, and so on.

What’s the process?

Upon registration, if we have not already completed a detailed health history together, then I will email you a form to fill out and return, a program agreement to review and return, and a form authorizing me to share your health information obtained with Dr. Lisa Pomeroy, ND, for the purpose of reviewing your GI-Map test results (see below).

I’ll send a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis test kit via US Mail to the address you use for registration. NOTE: The hair sample for this test cannot be collected within the state of New York. If you live in the state of New York and we have not yet discussed this, please contact me before registering.

I will also refer you to the website of Dr. Lisa Pomeroy, ND, to request a GI-Map test kit. I have a clinical advisor relationship with Dr. Pomeroy for running this test. This entitles me to consult with her about your history and findings as part of the process of running the test.

The labs we work with charge fees for their work. You are responsible for your lab fees in addition to the program / consultation fee. The lab fee for the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis is currently $50. The fee for the GI-Map (which includes input from Dr. Pomeroy) is $370.

When both lab tests come back, I will review them and write up a report that includes individualized recommendations (includes lifestyle, eating style, and supplements). We’ll schedule two one-hour visits either by phone or Zoom within about a week of one another. In the course of these visits, we’ll review the results and recommendations based on information from both tests.

Optional

Sometimes once we see the results of these two tests, we may agree that we’d like to explore further, either right away or down the road a few months. Common additions include the DUTCH hormone profile, Organic Acids Test, or Wheat Zoomer ( / other Zoomers) from Vibrant Health.

I also recommend keeping in touch no less frequently than once per month via 30 minute Progress Check call. In some cases, it works best to schedule Progress Check calls twice per month. This is really individual. The idea is to find a level of support that works for you.

If you’re not already a member of the Eat The Rainbow: Whole Plant Food Diversity Facebook group, I hope you’ll join! We recommend an eating style that features lots of whole plant foods. It does not exclude animal products.

The duration of a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis program segment is approximately 3 months. The duration of a GI-balancing segment can run anywhere from 2 – 6 months, depending on what we find. A 3-4 month time frame is common. It’s common to retest at the end of a segment, so we can see what is needed next. The Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis retest is straightforward; there are some options for reviewing your GI status, depending on what we found on the initial test and how you’re feeling.

  • Generally, it’s preferable to review your health history in interview form on the phone or Zoom call. This allows for a more interactive dialog which may bring forth additional information. The fee for this is $125, which also allows for my time spent on your behalf compiling the information after we talk.
  • If the interview format is not feasible in your situation, then I will email you a questionnaire to fill out and return. There is no additional charge for the questionnaire option.
