“The fixed way people speak and think about their lives is a prime factor in creating their health status. Word Cures will have people develop the essential capacity to shift the way they speak and think to support their optimal health.”

Robert A. Levine, PhD, Co-Director, Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program; Director, Complementary and Integrative Medicine Research; Director, Gossett Neurology Research Laboratories, Henry Ford Health System, Detroit, MI.

Just too busy…

Time, money, and energy. Do you ever have enough? A shortfall of these three prime personal resources was among the top 21 reasons people gave when I asked them the following question:

“Why do you not do what you know you could
to optimize your health?”

We’ll talk about some of the other reasons in a minute. But first let’s take a look at the very popular “not enough [time, money, energy]” group.

Here's the bottom line. It can seem like maintaining your health takes more effort than letting things slide. Healthy foods may cost more than some cheaper foods (although I hate to make that comparison across the board, because it's simply not true). Exercise requires a certain amount of time and energy. You'll have to put out a little more up front to keep your relationships and your environment tidied up. It's all true.

But look at the flip side:

  • You won't save any time at all if you are among the 1.5 million or so Americans who die annually from heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes1.
  • You won't save any money getting stuck on costly prescription medicines you could have avoided. (During a typical physician office visit, drugs from the relief of pain are discussed second in frequency only to heart medicine2. Back pain and headaches alone accounted for some 22 million doctor visits in the US in the year 20003.)

  •  It would be cheaper to do whatever it takes to get yourself off cigarettes (counseling included), than to keep smoking. Not only are the smokes themselves expensive (at least it seems that way to me – $25.40 per carton at the convenience store in my neighborhood), but you'll have to factor in lost productivity from being ill.

  • Speaking of lost productivity, lifestyle negligence can cost you money for more reasons than simply the cost of cigarettes. Any lifestyle-related disability can reduce your income substantially. [Think illness and pain both. Obesity, for example, increases your likelihood of soft tissue pain and premature joint wear.]

  • Would you really be better off without friends and family? Mending relationship fences takes energy. It's true. Calling Mom takes time. Taking your 5-year-old to the movies does, too. Yet healthy relationships increase resilience and well-being.

  • Taking care of your health can actually make you money. I figured this out years ago as an entry-level massage therapist. I worked at a gym. One of the sales guys came in for a massage one morning before his shift started. He found me first thing the next morning and reported, "I felt so great I outsold everyone else in the club yesterday!" Which was reflected in his paycheck.

  • Even the American Medical Association, whose members stand to profit from the public's poor choices, gets it. In the March 10, 2004 issue of their Journal, they reported the leading causes of death in the US during the year 2000. The top three:

  1. Tobacco use

  2. The combination of poor diet and physical inactivity

  3. Alcohol consumption4

Let’s face it. You can invest in your health, or you can spend your life drinking beer in front of the TV. Which ending do you think you’ll like better?

If you like happy endings, keep reading. In a few minutes, I’m going to tell you how my book Word Cures: How to Keep Stupid Excuses from Sabotaging Your Health can help you learn to look at your ability to create health in a whole new way.

"I've always been a fan of words.  People talk themselves out of the lives they say they want every day.  This book offers a fresh and direct approach for people who are ready to transform their beliefs about health."

Robert G. Allen, bestselling author of The One-Minute Millionaire.

Who’s talking here?

Before we continue, let me briefly answer the question you’re probably asking yourself about now: “Who is this Elizabeth Eckert and why should I invite her to become part of my holistic health team?”

Simple. I’ve spent 16 years professionally asking the following questions:

1.     “How did this person get to be the way they are?”

2.     “How can I help this person optimize their experience of life so that they have the complete freedom to express their unique gifts to their fullest ability?”

And isn’t that what you really want?

Isn’t it the satisfaction and fulfillment of having created a life well lived that’s really behind your desire to be healthy? For most people, I can assure you that it is. Furthermore, I can also assure you that the satisfaction of creating the life you desire actually brings about the optimal state of health you’re searching for.

In my clinical practice over the years (combining Neuromuscular Therapy, Energy Medicine, Human Development, Transformational Breathwork & Applied Awareness Studies), I've learned a lot.

I’ve met people from every walk of life:

  • lawyers, doctors, accountants,

  • factory workers, farmers, police and military officers,

  • school teachers, salespeople, hairdressers,

  • musicians, athletes, graphic artists,

  • students, homemakers, moms, dads,

  • pastors, telemarketers, business owners,

  • librarians, truck drivers, auto mechanics,

  • florists, airline pilots, pastry chefs,

  • physical therapists, letter carriers, dancers,

  • administrative personnel, retirees, writers,

  • and a bunch more specialties I haven’t mentioned. Even a mortician.

All of them searching for better health.

All those people, nearly every one, wanted to be well and healthy. Yet for some of them, it was nearly impossible to really hear the very information they’d come to me, and paid good money, to receive. Their own biases about who and what creates health got in the way.  Talk about frustrating!  For both sides, I can assure you.

So I looked further, studied some more, and asked a lot of questions. And I’m offering the result of that experience to you!

“Elizabeth is an excellent teacher. I so appreciate the clarity of her explanations, examples, and comparisons.”

— Mary Ann Carlson, RN, BSN, CHTP

Let’s have some more of those reasons.

Ok, we’ve taken on the illusion of scarcity. But you might have an entirely different concern. Maybe for you, resources really aren’t the problem. Although they’re among the most popular, the group “not enough [time, money, energy]” accounts for only three of the 21 reasons people reported for not optimizing their health as they could.

You’re going to learn to find the fallacies in
18 more great reasons.

Frankly, some of the other reasons we’ll explore are a little different. If you’re paying attention, you’ll remember that the original question I posed started out, “Why don’t you do what you know you could to…”

Some of the people I questioned were perplexed about how to answer a question that started that way. You see, they weren’t convinced they could be helped. They hadn’t done what they could to optimize their health because they simply didn’t know what was possible.

Maybe you’re like those people who focused their attention and energy on factors they couldn’t do anything about rather than looking for factors they could impact.  If you are, this is what you’ll overhear yourself say:

·         “It runs in the family.”

·         “It’s old age.” (From people as young as their 20’s!)

·         “It’s always been like this.”

If so, your one simple change might be learning to find factors you can influence in any situation. Word Cures will show you how to look past your hidden biases for the possibility in any situation.

Or perhaps you’re bogged down by resignation, apathy, or denial. “Life’s a struggle,” so you think, “and I just don’t want to deal with it.”

Would you rather deal with chronic pain and disease?

I didn’t think so.

You’ll know you’re among this group if you catch yourself saying:

·         “Why bother?”

·         “I don’t have a choice.”

·         “It’s just how I am.”

·         “My life is so WONDERFUL! Everything’s just PERFECT!”

If this speaks to you, you’ll appreciate Word Cures’ ability to help you find the objectivity you need to make empowered choices.

People who don’t understand their condition well enough to make informed choices form the next group. They don’t really get their problem and haven’t sought out the information they need on their own. Because they’re confused, they either put off doing anything at all or blindly take the advice of whomever gets in their path first.

Here are the sort of things may hear yourself say if this applies to you:

·         “It’s too risky.”

·         “But my pain is real!”

·         “I just don’t know…”

If this speaks to you, you’ll benefit from Word Cures’ sections on evaluating unfamiliar situations and owning what you know.

Take a minute to let all that sink in. Did you hear yourself in any of the statements above?  Did you hear family members or friends?

I thought so. It’s a rare person who doesn’t at least overhear these sorts of statements in someone else. (You probably say them, too — ask your friends!)

"Elizabeth's book brought me up short when I realized the excuses that hold me back from success.  Then, it showed clear steps I can take to get that success."

Sharon Spaedy, CHTP

Well, honestly, what’s a person to do?

Increasing your awareness is a good start. In fact, according to Dr. Dean Ornish, “Awareness is the first step in healing, both individually and socially5.”

What will I find inside?

Word Cures causes you, the reader, to gain massive awareness about the seemingly insignificant phrases that run like a train through your everyday language. Phrases that when unrecognized tend to hurl you down the wrong track — ultimately, farther and farther from your intended destination.

Awareness alone is your first success tool. Once you recognize the fallacies in your everyday explanations, they’ll lose their power over you. It’s instantaneous!

In addition, you’ll learn:

·         Characteristics of the saboteur archetype. How to meet, and ultimately befriend, your own “Inner Saboteur.” Once you recognize what your personal saboteur “sounds like,” you’ll be able to make clearer, more informed choices about your life.

·         How you shoot the messenger — the relationship between the many symptoms in your life and the underlying conditions they represent. Why simply getting rid of troubling symptoms is in many cases not the best solution to your problem. You’ll learn to look for the underlying cause of the challenges you face so that you can put them to rest for good, rather than simply covering them up for another day.

·         5 hidden motivations that can undermine even your best intentions for success. Without understanding how these motivations work, you’ll very likely end up frustrated and worn out — not to mention unsuccessful at reaching your goals.

·         The power of word selection to change your material world. You may already sense that this happens. Word Cures will explain how. [For the scientists among you, it's in the vibration. This is where the term "Vibrational Medicine" comes into play.] Life gets easier as you come to really understand the process that transforms thoughts into matter. Why? Because you’ll know the short-cuts.

·         21 different, and very popular, reasons we use to convince ourselves that we can’t have what we want in life. Though Word Cures is health-focused, the truth is that we have the ability to apply these reasons across the board — in nearly every area of our lives. I’ve already told you about 13 of them. We’ll take those on, plus 8 more. You’ll learn the fallacies in each one, as well as some unique tricks to get past them.

You’ll never again get stuck believing the pervasive cultural lies that have, in the past, placed artificial limits on your health and well-being.

·         Re-framing the past events of your life so creatively that forgiveness almost becomes a non-issue. Get very clear on the single quality that can make genuine forgiveness impossible and, unless mastered, virtually guarantees that you won’t find the peace of mind absolutely essential for attaining true health.

·         Sign on your own personal Warrior. You may be pleased to learn that when your “Inner Warrior” is empowered and on the job, your Saboteur will breathe a huge sigh of relief and start to back off. Why? Because he knows you’re well-taken care of without him. He’s simply not needed. Learn 7 qualities of the Warrior personality that you can consciously enhance. Give your poor Saboteur a break, eh?

·         Finally, learn the health benefits of being a “Black Sheep.”

"A mind filled with negative thoughts is like a beautiful garden choked with weeds.  Thanks for helping me get rid of those seemingly innocent little phrases that were actually doing real damage."

P.S. I’ll bet you’re wondering why I’d invest some $125,000 in post-graduate education, stuff my brain until it begged for mercy, camp outdoors in -10 F weather, spar nose to nose with big, burly guys twice my size, sit on top of a volcano for 4 days with no tent and no food, and (well, there’s more but you get the idea) and then offer up the essence of what I learned for a measly $16.95. Could Word Cures contain any real or lasting value?

First, let me put your mind to rest. Everything I know about creating holistic health is not in this book. As much as I could cram into 335 pages. But not everything. You’ll have to work a little harder to pry the rest out of me. [You'll have the opportunity if you like.]

Second, consider it a bargain. If you utilize the ideas presented in Word Cures, I think you’ll agree that its value in your life is far greater than the price you’ll pay. I simply priced the book low to make it accessible to as many people as possible.

But if you disagree — if you’re dissatisfied with your purchase, let me know within 30 days and I’ll refund your $16.95 promptly. Simply email or phone toll-free (877) 967-3287 to get your problem solved.

P.S.S. Procrastination is one of the stupidest excuses of all, and by now I sincerely hope you’re too smart to let yourself get stopped by it. The sooner you absorb the ideas presented here — the sooner you take control of your life and health — then the sooner you’ll begin to reap the healthy rewards.

Remember, you can’t get your health back once it’s gone. There is such a thing as “too late.” Diseases can overwhelm your body’s defense system. Body parts wear out.

In fact, at a simple mechanical level, your bones and muscles are changing right at this moment as a result of the mechanical stress you’re placing on them through your keyboard posture. The long-term result of compromised posture (which is very much improvable in its early stages through specialized soft-tissue therapy) can ultimately lead to serious muscle and joint problems you don’t want.

Act now before the clock runs out on you.
