How
to enhance your health, wealth, relationships,
personal satisfaction
and quality of life —
— by
becoming a more effective problem-solver.
What do you want
most in life?
Can you remember?
You may have become so involved with surviving your day-to-day life
that your most intimate desires are buried somewhere back in the far
reaches of your subconscious mind.
But they're in
there. You know.
Sometimes we
stop ourselves from thinking about what we really want. We become overwhelmed by simple survival. We figure, "if it's this
hard to simply get a meal on the table and pay the bills, why torture
myself thinking about what I can't have?"
Who says you can't
have it?
Here's a little
paradox of nature. It takes more work to obtain something you really
don't want than what you really do.
Are you
struggling in life to produce results you don't even want? Then
something's off. If you're putting out a whole lot of energy into
producing results you really don't like, you could benefit from a
little tune-up.
Let's take
inventory:
-
How are your
finances doing?
-
What about your
relationships?
-
Think about
personal satisfaction. Does your lifestyle excite you?
-
If you have a job,
do you look forward to going to work every day?
-
Is your home in
order as you'd like?
-
What about your
health?
“It is almost an
anti-miracle that so few people realize now that every major illness –
cancer, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, stroke – and most
accidents are more the result of our attitudes than of all other
measurable factors combined.”
—
C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D.1
Your health deserves our full attention.
Two factors in
particular: your immune system and your posture.
Why?
Because together,
they influence nearly every degenerative health condition you can
think of.
And because they
both respond directly to your effectiveness as a problem-solver.
Your immune
system protects you from colds, flu, viruses — even cancer. Dr.
Bernie Siegel, a specialist who works with cancer patients, believes
that to some extent cancer is not a primary disease
– rather he
sees cancer as a reaction of the body to a set of circumstances that
weakens the body's defenses.2
Uncontrolled stress
is one of those circumstances. And effective problem-solvers handle
stress much more efficiently than poor problem-solvers do.
“All illness should be
assumed to be stress-related until proved otherwise. Even if stress is
not the primary cause of illness, it is frequently an aggravating
factor.”
—
Andrew Weil, M.D.3
One of the biggest
sources of uncontrolled stress in many people's lives is the conflict
between what you know you should be doing
and what you are actually doing instead.
If your life up to
now has been about what other people want you to do (a characteristic of many cancer patients)4
perhaps you'd like to make a change. Perhaps you'd like to start
following your own inner wisdom. There's no telling what might happen
if you do!
Dawn: "I feel good in my own skin now."
Elizabeth: "Would you attribute that, at least in part, to the fact
that you're now doing what you believe you're meant to be doing?"
Dawn: "Yes! I feel it in every cell of my being. To be at a point
where I had all that chronic pain... I have not felt as good as I do
now for 5 to 6 years."

Your posture
sets the stage for the health of your muscles and joints. If you have
back pain, neck pain, headaches, premature joint wear, degenerating
discs, unexplained fatigue, or any number of similar concerns, chances are
good that you have a posture problem. Chances are your posture
problem pre-dated the symptom we just mentioned.
Muscles move bones.
Overly tight muscles imbalance your system. Muscles tighten up
for a number of reasons, but I don't suppose you'd be surprised to
hear that stress is on the list. Stress. Remember that effective problem-solvers experience stress very
differently from people who don't problem-solve as well. VERY
differently.
Let's build that problem-solving muscle!
In fact, your
problem-solving ability (both perceived and actual ability) has a
comprehensive and universal effect on your entire life. Your beliefs
about your ability to have an effect on your environment influence:
-
The courses of action you choose
to pursue or avoid
-
How much effort you’re willing
to put forth in order to reach a goal
-
How long you’ll persevere to get
past obstacles in your path
-
Your resilience to adversity
-
Whether your thought patterns
help or hinder your life
-
How much stress and depression
you experience in dealing with difficult circumstances
-
Your levels of accomplishment in
life5
Now for some really
good news. Problem-solving is a skill. It can be learned,
practiced, and improved.
No matter how great
a problem-solver you are today, no matter how you may feel more at the
effect of your world than in control of it, you can get better. You
can get past the great reasons that keep you stuck and get on with ...
well, whatever you say your life is going to be!
If you knew that
there was an easy-to-follow program to support you in taking the
project of your choice from start to finish, wouldn't you be
interested? Wouldn't you jump at
the chance to create more control over your environment ... and the life of your dreams?
What do you think
you might take on? Would you:
- improve your
family relationships
- start a
business
- write a book
- clean the
basement
- create a
website
- get in shape
- set up a
long-term investment strategy
- go back to
school
- find a better
job
- find Mr. or
Ms. right?
What would it be?
Anything you
really want to do is the right answer. Because our main goal is to have you develop confidence
in your ability to change the world around you. And that ability will translate from the
project you pick this time to any other project of your choice.
"I feel more
confident and have created so much activity that I otherwise would not
have. I am having more FUN doing what I love. It seems that new ideas
just spring forth when I have a clear path to where I am going. I feel
I can accomplish anything I put my mind to."
